In an ongoing effort to implement the Federal Digital Strategy, healthfinder.gov is connecting website editors and developers with the tools they need to host and share the Government’s reliable health and wellness information.
For Developers: Application Programming Interfaces (APIs)
All healthfinder.gov APIs are available to output English and Spanish content. To begin using a healthfinder.gov API, please register using the form to the right. A confirmation that includes your unique API key will be sent to your email address. Please save the email for future reference.
There are 2 healthfinder.gov APIs.
- Health Topics A to Z (formerly the Quick Guide to Healthy Living): This API provides access to healthfinder.gov’s award-winning prevention and wellness topics. The content is organized by letter (A to Z), health category, and population.
- myhealthfinder: This API provides access to the interactive myhealthfinder tool which gives users tailored recommendations for preventive services based on age, sex, and pregnancy status. The Affordable Care Act requires insurance companies to cover these services for some people at no extra cost.
These APIs allow users to query the content on demand and parse it for immediate presentation. The content is updated automatically when the healthfinder.gov team makes any changes.
For organizations that require frequent use of the data, we recommend querying the APIs and storing the data in a database that directly supports your web solutions.
