NICHCY is the center that provides information (in English and Spanish) to the nation on: - disabilities in children and youth; - programs and services for infants, children, and youth with disabilities; - IDEA, the nation’s special education law; and - research-based information on effective practices for children with disabilities. NICHCY’s special focus is children and youth (birth to age 22). Anyone can use their services—families, educators, administrators, journalists, students.

















NICHCY develops and distributes fact sheets on the following: specific disabilities, parent support groups, general information for parents, vocational/transitional issues, special education, legal rights and advocacy, and information on public advocacy. NICHCY publishes issues and briefing papers on current, relevant topics in the special education and disabilities field. Also distributes information (pamphlets, booklets, and fact sheets) regarding pertinent disability issues obtained from other sources. NICHCY maintains information on parents groups and private and public agencies/organizations on the local, state and national level for networking and referral purposes.
